Timothy Dalton Joins DC Universe’s ‘Doom Patrol’

Doom Patrol
The name’s Caulder. Niles Caulder. Yes, Bond has joined Doom Patrol.

It seems we can’t go more that a few days without a new Doom Patrol casting at the moment. Last week Alan Tudjk signed on to play the villain, Mr. Nobody. This week, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Timothy Dalton will be playing the group’s mentor and leader, Dr. Niles Caulder, better know as “The Chief”.

Described by The Hollywood Reporter as “a pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those one the edge of death in need of a miracle. Brilliant but controversial, Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as the Doom Patrol.”

The former James Bond star is no stranger to TV, having appeared on Doctor Who, and Chuck, along with a three season run on Penny Dreadful.

Dalton’s casting completes the main cast of Doom Patrol, with his Chief joining team mates Brendan Fraser and Riley Shanahan as Robotman, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Gurrero as Crazy Jane, and Dwain Murphy as Negative Man. As mentioned above, Alan Tudjk recently joined the cast as the villainous Mr. Nobody, and Joivan Wade will appear as Cyborg.

The Doom Patrol will first appear on DC Universe’s Titans later this year. Doom Patrol will premiere on the streaming service next year.
