Len Wiseman to Direct ‘Swamp Thing’ Pilot for DC Universe

Swamp Thing
Deadline have announced that Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) has signed on to direct the pilot episode of Swamp Thing.

In addition to directing the pilot, Wiseman will also join Aquaman director James Wan as an executive producer on the series. Wiseman has previously executive produced Fox’s The Gifted, Sleepy Hollow, and Warner Bros.’ Lucifer.

Jim Lee recently revealed that Swamp Thing will be a horror show, saying that being on DC Universe platform allowed the series to have a darker vibe than more traditional DC shows. He also confirmed that the creative team were drawing a lot of inspiration from Alan Moore’s classic comic book run, including the fan favorite “The Anatomy Lesson” storyline.

Swamp Thing will follow CDC researcher Abby Arcane who returns to Louisiana to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus and develops a bond with Alec Holland.  When Holland is tragically killed Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets and Holland may not be dead after all.

Swamp Thing is due to premiere on the DC Universe service next year.
