Ruby Rose Cast as CW’s Batwoman

Batwoman
The CW have found their Batwoman! Ruby Rose (Orange Is The New Black) will star as Kate Kane in both this December’s Arrowverse crossover and, potentially, in a Batwoman series next year.

According to Deadline the Arrowverse crossover will not act as a backdoor pilot for the Batwoman series, and The CW will instead film a full length pilot episode. Batwoman was DC’s first lesbian hero and, if the series is picked up, it will make her the first gay lead in a live action super hero series. Rose took to Instagram to share just how much this meant to her;

“Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

The CW’s Batwoman will be written and executive produced by Caroline Dries. Joining her as executive producers are Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Geoff Johns.
