Warner Bros. Developing ‘ALF’ Reboot

ALF
Gordon Shumway (aka ALF) could be heading back to TV in a new series from Warner Bros. Television.

Variety have learned that a new series starring the friendly Alien Life Form from the hit eighties sitcom is in the early stages of development at the studio.

The original series, created by Paul Fusco and Tom Patchett, focused on the misadventures of ALF following his crash landing in the Californian suburbs where he was taken in by the Tanner family.

The series ended on an unintended cliffhanger, with ALF captured by the Alien Task Force, and it sounds like that’s where the new series might pick up (ignoring 1996’s Project ALF) as Variety reports:

“One idea that has reportedly been discussed for the reboot would involve ALF emerging from Area 51 – where he has been held captive sine the original series finale – and observing how much the world has changed since that time.”

That approach would certainly give the creative team plenty of material to work with!

According to Variety, no writer is currently attached to the project and WB declined to comment. So it could be a while before everyone’s favorite Melmackian is back on our screens. But hopefully ALF will escape from the ATF and be entertaining us all once more soon.
