Three New DC Animated Original Movies Announced for 2019

DC Animated Original Movies
Last night saw the world premiere of The Death of Superman at SDCC. It’s the first movie in a two part  adaptation  of the classic story with Reign of the Supermen set to be released early next year. But that’s not all! Following the premiere, DC Comics announced three new DC Animated Original movies all set for release in 2019.

Justice League vs. The Fatal Five

Coming in Spring 2019 the Justice League are back in an all new, original story that will see them facing off against The Fatal Five. Very little is know about the story, but DC Comics did tease that “only time will tell” if the Legion of Super-Heroes would appear to help the League against their classic foes.

Batman: Hush

One of Batman’s most famous adventures is set to be DC Animation’s big summer release. It’s currently unknown whether this film will be adapted for the current animated continuity, like The Death of Superman has been, or whether it will be a stand alone feature.

Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee’s tale is a natural choice for adaptation. The mystery of “who is Hush?” featured a who’s who of Batman’s infamous rogues gallery, along with appearances from many of the Dark Knight’s partners and allies.

If the movie is a stand alone, it will be exciting to see how they adapt Jim Lee’s popular art style for animation.

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

We’re getting a bonus movie! Wonder Woman hasn’t had a solo animated adventure since the popular 2009 movie, but that’s about to change. No doubt buoyed by the incredible success of her live action feature, and likely to be released around the same time as Wonder Woman 1984 (more on that later today), Wonder Woman is finally getting another animated movie!

This will be the first time DC have released four animated original movies in one year.

Only the title is known at the moment, so this could be an adaptation or a completely new story. It could be set in the current animated universe or it could be a long awaited sequel to the 2009 movie. Or it could be something completely stand alone.  One thing is certain though, it’s a good time to be a Wonder Woman fan!

DC’s next Animated Original Movie is The Death of Superman. The film premiered at SDCC last night and is due for release on 7th August 2018.
