‘Fantastic Beasts’ Brings Magic and a Trailer to SDCC

Fantastic Beasts
The cast of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald kicked off Warner Bros.’ highly anticipated SDCC panel this morning with a new trailer.

Series star Eddie Redmayne got the crowd in the mood with little magic before being joined on stage by his co-stars. Which included Ezra Miller, keeping up his Comic Con costume tradition by dressing as Super Mario’s Toadette.

Together the cast (minus Johnny Depp) introduced the new trailer for the movie which promises an alliance between Newt and Jude Law’s Dumbledore as the Wizard World begins to take sides.

On stage, Jude Law reiterated Redmayne’s recent revelation that The Crimes of Grindelwald will be a darker affair.

“Wizards within the Wizarding World will be asked who’s side they are on. The depths and the darkness of this story are some of the darkest this franchise has gone.”

Law went on to joke that he loved being called “young Dumbledore” since he’s forty five, and revealed that David Yates gave him the freedom to establish Dumbledore on his own – “but I hope he’ll have some familiar traits.”

Law was interrupted as Johnny Depp took the stage.  In costume and in character, Grindelwald addressed the muggles of Hall H;

“It has been said that I hate the muggles, the no-mag, the can’t spells, I do not hate them.”

As quickly as he had appeared, he left. Leaving audiences spell bound by his unexpected appearance.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is due for release November 16, 2018.
