‘Minecraft’ Movie: Jack Black Joins Jason Momoa in Live-Action Adaptation, Filming To Start Soon
The Minecraft live-action movie at Warner Bros. is going full steam ahead. With production set to start soon in New Zealand, Deadline is reporting that Jack Black is the latest addition to the cast.
Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, and Sebastian Eugene Hansen are all part of the ensemble. Jared Hess is directing, and the final writing credits are still undetermined; the plot is kept tightly under wraps. Vertigo, WB and Legendary are backing the movie, along with Mojang (the company behind the Minecraft game) and Momoa’s On the Roam banner.
Black is no stranger to video game adaptations. He’s part of the ensemble of the forthcoming Borderlands, which Eli Roth directed before Tim Miller took over in reshoots. He also voiced Bowser in last year’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie from Illumination.
No release date has been set.
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
