‘Creed IV’ In the Works, Michael B. Jordan Directing

Irwin Winkler, producer on Creed III, recently stopped by Deadline’s Contenders Film: Los Angeles panel over the weekend and confirmed that MGM will be moving forward with a fourth Creed film.
After Ryan Coogler and Stephen Caple Jr. handled the first two films in the Rocky spin-off series, Michel B. Jordan, who played the titular role, stepped up to direct the third from a script by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin. According to Winkler, Jordan would be returning to the director’s chair:
“We are planning to do Creed IV right now. We have a really good story [and] a really good plot. We got a little delayed because of the strikes, but about a year from now we’re going into pre-production.”
The timeline would match up with a release date around Thanksgiving 2025, which is around the same window that the first two films were released. Creed III was originally also planned for Thanksgiving 2022, but was later pushed by the studio until March 2023.
The comments also line up with reports from earlier this year about Amazon Studios, which now owns MGM, planning to expand the universe of the Creed films with live-action and anime series for Prime Video, among other ideas.
Not only does this sound as logical step for a mid-budget franchise that keeps getting consistent returns, in both quality and at the box office, but it also makes me excited. I’m not the biggest Rocky fan in the world, but like I said in my review of the third film: “It feels great to check in with Adonis and Bianca to see how they are doing every few years”. It’s kind of like reconnecting with old friends every now and then.
Jordan has a few projects in the works, including a remake of The Thomas Crown Affair and the I Am Legend sequel.
