‘Frozen 4’ In Development at Disney, Bob Iger Says
Disney CEO Bob Iger stopped by Good Morning America on Thursday to announce that the studio is currently developing two new Frozen movies.
The returning chief executive, who celebrates a year since he came back to the company (and what a year it’s been), confirmed earlier this year in an earnings call that the studio was keen on developing new films from their biggest franchises. As such, Toy Story 5 was officially confirmed, as was a third Frozen and another Zootopia.
But on GMA, Iger confirmed that it’s not just the third Frozen, as Jennifer Lee, who directed the first two films, is working on two new stories in that world.
Lee herself discussed a very prolific time working on the threequel earlier this year at the London Film Festival:
“Every morning last week they carved out space for me to work with the creative team on it, and I am blown away and I am so excited. I don’t know what I’m doing on it yet — I’m not doing nothing — except doing what I do now, which is we work on every project as as team and I’m in there with creative. But with ‘Frozen,’ just a little bit more.”
No release date has been announced for either film, so don’t expect them for another couple of years at the earliest. The studio will release Wish next year, which not only is their latest animation effort starring Ariana DeBose and Chris Pine, but it’s also a celebration of 100 years of storytelling.
Next year, they haven’t announced their traditional Thanksgiving animated film yet. Pixar is currently working on Inside Out 2, due out in June.
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
