‘Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny’ Coming to Disney Plus in December With New Documentary

Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones

Disney has announced that Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny will be arriving on Disney Plus on Friday 1 December, along with a new Indiana Jones documentary on the same day, titled Timeless Heroes Indiana Jones & Harrison Ford.

As you might expect, Timeless Heroes Indiana Jones & Harrison Ford will tell the story of how Harrison Ford became Indiana Jones, with the man himself speaking about his early life at college before he knew he was destined for Hollywood. Ford mentions in the trailer that he never expected to become a leading man and initially found work as a carpenter, which likely means he’ll get into the story about how he met George Lucas in the first place.

A host of celebrity directors, actors and producers pop up in the trailer, including Ford himself, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, James Mangold, Kathleen Kennedy and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. There’s plenty of footage of Harrison Ford on set joking with the crew — at one point on the Indiana Jones set he dryly jokes about an upcoming stunt:

“I’m sure it’s not dangerous. If it was dangerous, they would have waited until we got more of the movie done.”

Steven Spielberg says that Harrison Ford was a “star in waiting”, while Phoebe Waller Bridge claims no one else could ever play Indiana Jones, “because he is Indiana Jones!” We can only hope they found time to interview the resurgent Ke Huy Quan as well, who fans will recognize as Short Round in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom.

With the other four Indiana Jones movies arriving on Disney Plus earlier this year after Disney bought the streaming rights from Paramount, Disney’s streaming service is now the ultimate home for the franchise. It looks like Christmas will come early for Indiana Jones fans this year — twenty four days early, to be exact.
