‘Flora and Son’: First Trailer Revealed for Sundance Hit From ‘Sing Street’ Director John Carney
Apple TV Plus has revealed the official trailer for Flora and Son, one of the surprise hits from the Sundance Film Festival that will make its way onto the platform on September 29. An Oscar push from the service would not be surprising either, given the unprecedented success of CODA, even if they will be focusing their efforts on Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon.
The film hails from writer-director John Carney, in his first feature film since 2016’s indie hit Sing Street (which coincidentally starred CODA‘s Ferdia Walsh-Peelo), and stars Eve Hewson as a single mother trying to deal with her troublemaker teenage son, played by Orén Kinlan. To do that, he enlists an LA musician played by Joseph Gordon-Levit. Check out the trailer below:
Here is the official synopsis:
Single mom Flora (Eve Hewson) is at a loss about what to do with her rebellious teenage son, Max (Orén Kinlan). Encouraged by the police to find Max a hobby, Flora tries to occupy him with a beat-up acoustic guitar. With the help of a washed-up LA musician (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Flora and Max discover the transformative power of music. From the musical mind of John Carney, “Flora and Son” explores the bond between a mother and son on a journey toward a new harmony.
Flora and Son hits Apple TV Plus on September 29 after a limited theatrical run on September 22.
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
