‘Rebel Moon’: Trailer for Zack Snyder’s Science-Fiction Epic Announces Titles and Release Dates for Both Parts
Netflix has revealed the first trailer for Rebel Moon, the latest film from director Zack Snyder, a science-fiction epic about the population of a moon that rebelled against the tyrannical galactic government. (If that sounds familiar it’s because the idea was first pitched as a Star Wars movie.)
Snyder has said before that the story was too big to tell in just one single film, which is why he got Netflix’s approval to split it in two. The platform had dated the first one for December 22, 2023, and the new trailer announced that Part Two will be coming out on April 19, 2024. Titles have also been revealed; respectively, they are Part One: A Child of Fire and Part Two: The Scargiver. Check out out first extended look at the film below:
Here is the official plot synopsis for the film, in case it wasn’t clear from the trailer:
“When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.”
The movie(s) has been in the works for a few years at Netflix, and it’s supposedly a passion project of the director, who also co-writes with Kurt Johnstad and Shay Hatten.
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
