Marvel Studios is trying to make everyone forget Secret Invasion ever happened by releasing the first official trailer of the new season of their most successful show yet, Loki. Tom Hiddleston’s mischievous character returns on October 6 on Disney Plus, unless a last-minute decision is made in light of the actors’ strike, which would prevent Hiddleston from promoting the series.

We’ve known for almost a year that Ke Huy Quan, the Oscar-winning actor from Everything Everywhere All At Once, will be appearing in the new season. Well, Marvel didn’t waste any second and confirmed that his character is playing a skillful technician named O.B. inside the TVA in the very first scene of the trailer. This also served as the perfect introduction to the main conflict of the new season: apparently, Loki is “timeslipping”, and what’s even more suspicious, he’s doing it inside the TVA.

The trailer also features quick footage of Jonathan Majors as Victor Timely, from a scene we already saw after the credits of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. We know that his role will be rather limited in the new season, but Marvel is apparently not shying away from confirming he is not yet recast following recent legal troubles. Interestingly enough, Marvel decided to release this on the week Majors’ trial is set to begin; a legal proceeding that could be the final nail in the coffin that is his time in the MCU, or perhaps what brings him back into it — whether there is a ruling made by October 6 or not, it seems like Majors will be appearing as the character in the second season of Loki, and Marvel will decide on the future after that.

Two new posters were also revealed, one last week and another one along with the trailer:

The cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, Ke Huy Quan, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, and Jonathan Majors. Eric Martin is head writer, while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw, and Kasra Farahani directed for the new season.

The new season starts streaming on October 6, which will mark Marvel going back to the Friday slot that Star Wars and MCU shows once populated. In fact, it was Loki season 1 that set a new path for the big Disney Plus releases to move to Wednesdays after its big success in June 2021.
