‘The Wire’ and ‘John Wick’ Actor Lance Reddick Dead at 60

Lance Reddick

Lance Reddick, one of Hollywood’s most iconic character actors in recent memory, famous for his work on HBO’s The Wire and the John Wick movie franchise, has died at the age of 60.

His death comes as a shock, as he posted a selfie video on social media on Wednesday, at home with his dogs and looking healthy. The cause of death has yet to be determined, but initial police reports claim it appears to be natural.

Reddick’s career has been nothing short of amazing, with prominent roles in TV hits like The Wire, Fringe, Bosch, Oz, and Lost. He also appeared in movies both big (John Wick series, Godzilla vs. Kong) and small (The Guest, Faults), as well as many video games — he was far from done with his Destiny 2 and Horizon characters, for example.

His unreleased work includes John Wick: Chapter 4, which opens next week, the Ana de Armas-led Wick spinoff Ballerina, and the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series for Disney Plus, where he played the Greek god Zeus.

Lance Reddick isn’t the only major The Wire star to leave us recently, as we’re still reeling from Michael K. Williams’ passing in September 2021. Moreover, their careers looked quite similar in some respects, and their talent has been praised for the better part of this century.

May he rest in peace.
