Bob Odenkirk in Talks To Join Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ Series

Bob Odenkirk in talks to join Wonder Man

The Wonder Man live-action series for Disney Plus continues to shake up, and more names are being added to the list. After learning about Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s casting as the lead earlier this week, it looks like Bob Odenkirk might be joining the MCU as well.

According to The Illuminerdi, the production is eyeing Bob Odenkirk for a key role in the series that seems to be Simon Williams’ manager. While details about the part remain under lock and key, sources have revealed to the site that he is the studio’s only choice and is currently in negotiations. From the sound of things, it could have a similar impact to Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad, being a key secondary player that advises the lead on where to take his career next.

Wonder Man is reportedly going to be a Hollywood satire, with Williams playing a stunt double and/or actor. In fact, there is another actor within the Marvel universe that will be appearing in the series, as reports came out over the summer that Sir Ben Kingsley himself would be returning as Trevor Slattery for the show, a role he already reprised in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

That is also not the only Shang-Chi connection, as Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed the movie, is also overseeing Wonder Man, acting as executive producer under his production deal with Marvel Studios, and likely directing a handful of episodes as well. Cretton has his hands full with Marvel content — in addition to Wonder Man, he is also signed on to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the first of the two-part event that will culminate the Multiverse Saga, plus a Shang-Chi sequel that has yet to be dated.

It’s likely that both Wonder Man and Shang-Chi will appear in that movie as well as Secret Wars in 2026. The series has not been given a release date yet, but since cameras could start rolling as soon as early 2023, we could be seeing Simon Williams on Disney Plus in early 2024.
