The first teaser trailer for the upcoming Rian Johnson movie Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has been released by Netflix.

Check it out here:

Glass Onion features the return of Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc, who will be solving a brand-new mystery with a whole new set of characters. This ensemble includes Edward Norton as tech billionaire Miles Bron, who invites his “nearest and dearest” on a getaway in Greece — they are Kathryn Hahn as Claire Debella, a Connecticut governor running for Senate, Kate Hudson as fashionista Birdie Jay, Leslie Odom Jr. as Lionel Toussaint, a scientist that works on Bron’s company, Dave Bautista as YouTube star Duke Cody, Madelyn Cline as his younger girlfriend and channel assistant Whiskey, Jessica Henwick as Birdie’s assistant Peg, and Janelle Monáe as tech entrepreneur Cassandra “Andi” Brand.

The movie will have its worldwide premiere on Saturday, September 10, during the Toronto International Film Festival. It will also play during the BFI London Film Festival, which Movie News Net will be attending, so stay tuned for that! It will then have a short theatrical run before premiering on Netflix on December 23.

The first movie was released in November 2019 and collected $311M worldwide and an Oscar nomination for Rian Johnson’s original script. The sequel is not believed to be among the main contenders for this year, but could give some of the competition a run for their money in some of the acting categories, original screenplay, and even more technical ones like production design.

The first reactions and reviews will come out over the weekend, so we’ll learn very soon whether Rian Johnson has delivered another great “whodunit” or Knives Out was an anomaly.
