‘Mission: Impossible 8’ Adds Katy O’Brian

Mission Impossible 8 Adds Katy O'Brian

The eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise is currently filming in the UK, and has added a new cast member. The Mandalorian and Love Lies Bleeding star Katy O’Brian will be joining Tom Cruise & co. in the upcoming Paramount film, Deadline reported.

Plot and character details were not disclosed in the report, but the eighth entry in the series, which has been filming for a while, boasts an impressive roster of additions like Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, Janet McTeer, and Hannah Waddingham. They join returning actors Cruise, Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff.

Chris McQuarrie writes and directs the sequel to last year’s Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning. Though it included Part One in the title while it was in theaters, Paramount has renamed it after hitting home video as they are also supposed to retitle the eighth installment, originally subtitled Dead Reckoning Part Two. They believe that the “Part One/Two” inclusion may have scared away some audiences, as the seventh installment, despite really strong reviews, saw diminishing returns with respect to 2018’s Fallout.

Set photos of the new movie recently leaked showing Tom Cruise running (shocker) and with blood spilled over his clothes. It’s unclear how much of the production is left, as they were filming months before the SAG-AFTRA strike last summer, and if O’Brian has been a part of the project for a while or just joined the cast.

Mission: Impossible 8 bows in theaters May 23, 2025.
