‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Tickets on Sale Monday, Cast Teases Flashbacks To Explore Jane and Thor’s Relationship

Thor: Love and Thunder is officially less than a month away from today, and we are entering the final stages of the marketing campaign.

In a new interview with Disney’s D23 Magazine that appears in the spring 2022 issue (via The Direct), stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson discussed the movie. In particular, how it will address Thor and Jane’s first break-up, which was only mentioned in one line in Thor: Ragnarok. Hemsworth said that having not really explained it before allowed them a lot of room in Love and Thunder, even teasing that we might get to see some flashbacks:

“There actually wasn’t a whole lot of evidence to definitively say, ‘This is how they broke up. This is what happened.’ It was left open for interpretation, which was great because it allowed us to go on this fun journey; ‘What did their relationship look like when they were together? What did it look like when they were breaking up? Why did they break up?’ It’s some of the funniest stuff in the film.”

Natalie Portman added the following:

“It was really fun to get to imagine the parts of their relationship we hadn’t seen…and the hard parts of a scientist dating an otherworldly Super Hero.”

She also described the joyful environment that director Taika Waititi creates on set, saying:

“Taika brings such a sense of fun, mischief, and spontaneity to the set. It was a really joyful environment and we embraced the silly.”

Portman is back in the role of Jane Foster after splitting up with Marvel Studios following her bad experience on the set of Thor: The Dark World. The character would make a short cameo in Avengers: Endgame, and a couple of months after the premiere of that movie, Taika Waititi announced to the world from the stage of Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con that the actress would be back as The Mighty Thor in Thor: Love and Thunder.

Marvel Studios announced this week that tickets will go on sale next Monday, June 13th, with the release of the following 30-second spot:
