As the release of Lightyear approaches, Pixar revealed today the title, logo, synopsis, and concept art for their next project, Elemental, which will be their 27th film.

Elemental will be directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream. Here is the basic premise:

“In a city where fire, water, land, & air residents live together, a fiery young woman & a go-with-the-flow guy will discover something elemental: How much they have in common.”

The movie will be released in theaters on June 16th, 2023. Check out the original tweet from the official Pixar account below:

The company also revealed today a piece of concept art from the film to let audiences know what to expect from its visual style.

Not much else is known about the film, which is still a year away. It’s very possible we’ll learn more details during this September’s D23 convention, where a first look may even be shown. It’s unlikely it will be released to the public though, so written reactions and descriptions might have to do.

The next Pixar film is Lightyear, which releases on June 17th. It will be Pixar’s first theatrical release since March 2020, when Onward opened right as the COVID-19 pandemic started. The studio has two more dates marked in the schedule for 2024, on March 1st and on June 14th, though they still haven’t clarified what those projects are. We might get an update on those during D23 too.
