‘Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves’ Announces Title and Confirms March 2023 Release Date

The upcoming film adaptation of the beloved tabletop RPG game has received an official title, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

The news was announced during the first-ever D&D presentation, which was held on Thursday. The official logo, which can be seen above, was also revealed. The movie will be theatrically released on March 3, 2023. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Game Night) are directing the film, and also co-wrote the script with Michael Gilio. The cast includes Chris Pine in the lead role, along with Michelle Rodriguez, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith, Sophia Lillis, and Hugh Grant. Check out the video announcement:

Daley revealed during the presentation that filming has now wrapped:

“It’s a dream come true to bring the Forgotten Realms and the Sword Coast to life. We just wrapped shooting in some of the world’s most incredible locations.”

The movie has been suffering from multiple problems and delays over the years, but it looks like Goldstein and Daley finally did it. Whether or not it will pay off, we’ll have to wait another year to see. Having finally shot the movie is nothing but a good sign, especially for this particular project.

Speaking to Collider last month, Pine describe the project as Game of Thrones meets The Princess Bride, with sprinkles of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Goonies. He said:

“Oh man. Well, what I will say is we had a hell of a fun time making it. There was a lot of laughs. The way that I’ve been describing it, it’s like ‘Game of Thrones’ mixed with a little ‘Princess Bride’, just a smidge of ‘Holy Grail’; it’s somewhere in that ballpark. It’s a lot of fun. It’s got a lot of thrills. It’s poppy, it’s eighties heartfelt, there’s a bit of ‘Goonies’ in there. My character, he’s the ultimate party planner. I think it’s going to be really good. I mean, who fucking knows, but I think we got a good shot and John and John are killer guys. They know comedy and they know heart and we had a great cast and we had a good time making it. And that’s all you can ask for.”
