‘Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous’ Final Season Roars July 21

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Season 4

After the fourth season ended with a cliffhanger that promised a definitive conclusion in the next chapter, Netflix, Universal, and DreamWorks have jointly announced Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous will indeed wrap things up with its fifth season.

DreamWorks Animation dropped the long-anticipated news earlier today, promising an epic conclusion that, surprisingly, won’t arrive until Jurassic World: Dominion has chomped on theaters. The rather disappointing (and utterly weird) Season 4 didn’t take the story much further into the future, with the group of castaway kids still trying to figure out how to reach the mainland after a number of life-threatening adventures, so Universal is probably holding back the final season’s release because it directly ties into the conclusion of their Jurassic World trilogy — Colin Trevorrow himself, exec producer on the show, confirmed the fans’ suspicions last year.

The first preview, an entirely traditional teaser trailer, can be seen below:

As you can see, it appears the focus is put back on the dinosaurs, with the show’s ultimate villain, ruthless businessman Daniel Kon, set to take over Mantah Corp’s mysterious island in order to profit off the prehistoric creatures and the tech developed around them. I was quite displeased with the fourth Camp Cretaceous season, but here’s hoping they take advantage of the relationship (or lack of) between Kenji and his father, now the surprise bad guy, to make the series’ compelling human drama shine again.

Meanwhile, we’re expecting the second Jurassic World: Dominion trailer to surface any day now, maybe even later this week. Marketing has ramped up in the last few days, with small spots with new footage appearing on TV, plus a BTS featurette released online and a dino-less poster which you can check out below:

Jurassic World: Dominion will break free in less than two months, on June 10. Stay tuned for more coverage in the coming weeks.
