The new Barbie movie is rounding up its cast with a whole set of new actors.

Variety reported yesterday that And Just Like That‘s Hari Nef was joining the cast, while Deadline just added another stream of names today: Kingsley Ben-Adir, Rhea Perlman, Emerald Fennell, Ncuti Gatwa, Sharon Rooney, Scott Evans, Ana Cruz Kayne, Connor Swindells, Ritu Arya, and Jamie Demetriou. They are of course joining Margot Robbie in the titular role, as well as recently-reported Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrara, Kate McKinnon, Ariana Greenblatt, Emma Mackey, Alexandra Shipp, Issa Rae, and Michael Cera.

Ben-Adir recently wrapped his role in the Disney Plus series Secret Invasion, from Marvel Studios, while Fennell has had a busy year after winning her Oscar, developing a Zatanna-centric movie for DC, filming The Crown, as well as writing her next directorial effort, which will be shooting next summer. Nef was recently seen in an episode of the Sex in the City spin-off series And Just Like That, and also appears in an episode of the fourth season of The Marvelous Ms. Maisel.

Greta Gerwig directs Barbie, which started principal photography a few weeks ago. She also co-wrote the script with her husband, Noah Baumbach. Warner Bros. will be distributing. Robbie is also a producer on the project via her banner LuckyChap, as well as Mattel Films’ Robbie Brenner and Paddington producer David Heyman.

A 2023 release date is to be expected, though no more details have been announced.
