‘Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’ and ‘Gotham Knights’ Get New Trailers at DC FanDome

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

After more than a year underground, both Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights have received new trailers at DC’s FanDome 2021.

While the main shows at this year’s FanDome event are the new looks at DC Films’ upcoming barrage of theatrical releases, a lot more is going on in the massive digital event. As part of today’s offerings, the next big video games from DC have released new trailers and previews to the public.

First up is Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which marks the studio’s return to gaming frontlines since 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight, a stunning farewell to the Arkham Saga with a secret ending that maybe promised a tentative return. While it seems like some ideas were floated around, the studio and WB Games (publisher) finally decided to move on and tackle another famous DC property: the Suicide Squad.

Of course, this game isn’t connected in any way to the 2016 and 2021 films, but the IP is in many people’s minds right now, so giving Rocksteady the chance to do something completely different with these characters simply makes sense. It’ll be the first major DC game to drop exclusively on next-gen consoles (plus PC). Check out the new trailer below:

Gotham Knights also debuted during last year’s FanDome, following months and months of ridiculous secrecy after WB Montreal’s suprise had been spoiled by leaks. After doing a fine job with the criminally underrated Batman: Arkham Origins, the studio has added co-op elements to the existing formula and taken the story to a new continuity in order to have more narrative freedom. The game’s coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, plus PC and last-gen consoles — it’s been in development for a few years now. The new trailer focuses on the legendary Court of Owls:

It appears that gamers and comic book aficionados will be taking the fight to Superman, the Court of Owls, and other famous DC characters sooner rather than later. Marvel is slowly stepping up their AAA game following 2020’s Avengers-sized disappointment with upcoming releases such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Midnight Suns, but DC remains king on this front after years of solid Arkham and Injustice releases.
