‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ Starts Filming, Fills its Cast
Blood Origin, the prequel series that will tell a story set over a thousand years before the events of The Witcher kick off, has started filming.
According to Deadline, the show is now filming in the UK, and Netflix promptly announced its complete cast via Twitter (thread):

The show is welcoming Mirren Mack (The Nest), Lenny Henry (Amazon’s Lord of the Rings), Jacob Collins Levy (Young Wallander), newcomers Lizzie Annis and Amy Murray, Huw Novelli (The Capture), Francesca Mills (Harlots), Nathaniel Curtis (It’s a Sin), Zach Wyatt (Karen Pirie), and Dylan Moran (Black Books). They’re joining Laurence O’Fuarain, Sophia Brown, and Michelle Yeoh, who were all announced as key characters in the series in the past few months.
Also joining as directors are Sarah O’Gorman (The Witcher, The Last Kingdom) and Vicky Jewson (Close, Crumbs). Declan de Barra, who penned one of the key episodes in Season 1 of the main show, will act as executive producer and showrunner. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, head of The Witcher (now busy with Season 2), and Matt O’Toole are serving as executive producers too, with Andrzej Sapkowski, the mind who created The Witcher and its universe, once again on board as creative consultant.
Blood Origin has been planned as a six-parter limited series, with an expected debut sometime in 2022. Meanwhile, fans will be busy watching the animated prequel film Nightmare of the Wolf on August 23, and of course, Season 2 of The Witcher, which finally arrives on December 17.
