‘The Last of Us’ Finds Joel’s Daughter in Nico Parker

Nico Parker joins The Last of Us

HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation has found Joel’s daughter.

We haven’t had any news regarding the upcoming TLOU TV series by HBO and PlayStation Productions since Merle Danbridge joined the ensemble last month, returning to her game role of Marlene, a key character in the story. Now the Miller family is complete with the addition of Nico Parker as Sarah Miller, Joel’s daughter.

Parker’s breakout role came as Colin Farrell’s daughter in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Dumbo. She also recently appeared opposite her real-life mother, Thandiwe Newton, in HBO’s The Third Day, and will be seen next in Warner Bros’ Reminiscence, where her mother also appears.

She’s joining a cast headlined by Pedro Pascal (Joel), who is now rocking the TV world as the main character in The Mandalorian, and Bella Ramsey (Ellie), whom you might know from Game of Thrones. Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) will be playing Joel’s brother, Tommy.

Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov (Beanpole) is directing the pilot episode of The Last of Us, a co-production with Sony Pictures Television. PlayStation Productions, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog are jointly producing the TV series, based on the video game developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for the PlayStation platforms. The script comes from from Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and TLOU creator Neil Druckmann.

The story takes place 20 years after modern civilization has crumbled. Joel, a hardened survivor with a troubled past, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a seemingly normal 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across what remains of the States.
