‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Adds Russell Crowe
The cast for the fourth movie in the Thor franchise is just getting more awesome every day.
The latest addition is Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actor was first spotted playing rugby with some members of the cast in Australia, where the movie is currently in production. Shortly after, reports came out confirming the news. Crowe’s part is set to be a small one, apparently.
This just feels like a party where friends are inviting each other’s friends to come in, have a beer, and deliver a couple of lines in front of the camera. Melissa McCarthy, Sam Neill, Matt Damon, and Luke Hemsworth are all part of the cast playing fake characters from the franchise, much like what happened in Thor: Ragnarok, and it feels like Crowe will have a similar role. At this point, I wouldn’t even be surprised if Elsa Pataky, Chris Hemsworth’s wife, also makes a brief appearance in the movie.
Thor: Love and Thunder is directed by Taika Waititi, and written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Waititi. Victoria Alonso, Louis D’Esposito, Kevin Feige, and Todd Hallowell are executive producing.
Chris Hemsworth is back in the title role, as well as Natalie Portman as Jane (who will become the Mighty Thor in the movie), Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Taika Waititi as Korg, and the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy (minus Zoe Saldana) – Chris Pratt as Starlord, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Rocket Racoon and Kraglin (Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket), Vin Diesel as Groot, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, and Dave Bautista as Drax. Additionally, Melissa McCarthy is playing fake Hela, Sam Neill is playing fake Odin, Matt Damon is playing fake Loki, and Luke Hemsworth is playing fake Thor. Russell Crowe now is in as well, but his part is unknown. Christian Bale, on the other hand, is the villain of this installment, Gorr the God Butcher.
The movie is currently set for a May 6, 2022, release date.
Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
