Naomie Harris to Star in ‘Man Who Fell to Earth’ Alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor
Academy Award-nominated actress Naomie Harris is coming back to TV.
According to Variety, the British actress is joining Chiwetel Ejiofor in the upcoming Man Who Fell to Earth series at Showtime. The show was supposed to be developed for Paramount Plus until last month it moved to Showtime. It’s based on the 1963 novel by Walter Trevis, which was adapted into the big screen in 1976 by Nicolas Roeg, in a movie that starred David Bowie.
The story will follow an alien character, played by Ejiofor, that lands on Earth at a pivotal point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future. Harris’ character will be Justin Falls, “a brilliant scientist and engineer who must conquer her own demons in the race to save two worlds.”
The new series will be written and produced by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet, who will act as showrunners, alongside John Hlavin. They said in a statement to Variety:
“To be working with an actor of Naomie’s caliber is an absolute dream. Her strength, her complexity and her bold artistic choices are an inspiration. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board.”
Naomie Harris was nominated for an Oscar for her excellent performance in the marvelous 2016 movie Moonlight. Ultimately, she didn’t win, but her co-star Mahershala Ali did get home the trophy. The two will reunite in the upcoming movie Swan Song, which just wrapped shooting.
Harris will also be seen back in the big screen this year (at least we hope so) in two of the biggest releases coming up. First, she will be seen in Andy Serkis’ Venom: Let There be Carnage, in a role that is rumored to be Shriek, Cletus Kasady’s love interest. After that, she will be reprising the role of Moneypenny in No Time to Die, opposite Daniel Craig in his last performance as James Bond.

However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
