Rian Johnson is officially coming back to television!

On Tuesday, Peacock announced that they have ordered ten episodes of Poker Face, a mystery-of-the-week type of show that will be produced, written, and directed by Academy Award-nominee Rian Johnson. Natasha Lyonne will play the lead role, as well as executive produce the series. Johnson said in a statement:

“I’m very excited to dig into the type of fun, character driven, case-of-the-week mystery goodness I grew up watching. It’s my happy place. Having Natasha as a partner in crime is a dream, and we’ve found the perfect home at Peacock.”

Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, added:

“Rian Johnson’s distinct sensibility and talent for telling edge-of-your-seat mysteries is a massive gift for Peacock, and we can’t wait for audiences to delve into each case. Paired with the acting genius of Natasha Lyonne, this series will be entertaining and addictive.”

Lyanne is no stranger to television, as the actress co-created, executive produces, and stars in the renowned Netflix show Russian Doll, which just began shooting its second season. She can currently be seen in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, which received some Oscar love in the Best Actress category (for Andra Day as the title character).

Elise Henderson, president of MRC Television, also said:

“Rian is a gifted writer and director who draws you in with his unique approach to mystery and we’re so proud to partner with him, and Ram, and to have Natasha Lyonne as our lead, and land this phenomenal show at Peacock with a talented team.”

There is no word on whether this show will come before or after the follow-up to the critically acclaimed Knives Out, which Rian Johnson is also working on.
