‘Willow’ Series Nabs ‘Spider-Man’s Tony Revolori

Tony Revolori

Tony Revolori, the man best known for playing Flash Thompson in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far from Home, is reportedly in talks for a lead role in the Willow series for Disney Plus.

According to Deadline, Revolori would join Ellie Bamber, Cailee Spaeny, and Erin Kellyman as one of the lead characters, with Warwick Davis reprising his role from the 1988 fantasy film.

The original film followed Davis’s Willow Ufgood, a reluctant farmer who risks his life to protect a baby from a tyrannical queen who wants to destroy the child and take over the world. There are few details available about the new series’ plot, but casting information reveals the four leads would be trying to rescue a kidnapped prince from a currently unknown enemy. The series is also expected to take place years after the events of the film.

It seems Ellie Bamber’s character will serve a similar role to Davis’, in that she will play a kitchen maid called Dove who also becomes the “Chosen One” like Willow did. Cailee Spaeny will play the princess Kit, twin sister of the prince they intend to rescue. Erin Kellyman will play Jade, a servant who is Kit’s best friend and moral compass.

Another character in the group is called Boorman, who could be playing a similar role to Val Kilmer’s character from the original film, who was a thief that joined the group as a way to escape from prison. If so, then it’s possible that this could be Tony Revolori’s role.

The Willow series will be overseen by co-showrunners Jonathan Kasdan (who wrote the pilot) and Wendy Mericle, as well as Ron Howard, who directed the original film, and writer Bob Dolman. Lucasfilm will also be involved, as they produced the film back in 1988. This will be their first non-Star Wars project in a while. Kathleen Kennedy and Michelle Rejwan will serve as executive producers, along with the other four.

Willow is set to film in Wales, where most of the original movie was filmed, and scheduled to arrive on Disney Plus sometime next year, presumably in late 2022 if Disney are still in the process of hiring the main cast and a replacement director for Jon M. Chu.
