Gotham Awards 2020 Winners Announced
The 2020 Gotham Awards winners were announced last night, confirming once again that Nomadland is poised to win big at the Dolby Theater next April.
Long story short, Nomadland won the highest prize but failed to bring home its other big contender, Frances McDormand as Best Actress. She is still the frontrunner alongside Viola Davis for Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (who didn’t even get nominated) at the Oscars, and this probably doesn’t mean anything in the long run.
The other big upset of the night was Riz Ahmed, who won the Best Actor award over Chadwick Boseman. They will be seeing each other again at the Academy Awards, but that confrontation will actually be a threesome, as Anthony Hopkins is coming in hot with a lot of praise for probably his best performance since 1991’s Silence of the Lambs.

Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
