‘Indiana Jones 5’ to Shoot Next Spring, Harrison Ford Will Be Back
After all, it seems like Harrison Ford will be playing his other most iconic role once again, Doctor Indiana Jones.
During Lucasfilm’s presentation at Disney’s Investor Day, president of the studio Kathleen Kennedy affirmed that they are looking at a spring 2021 start date for production on Indiana Jones 5. James Mangold is taking over from Steven Spielberg as the director of the project.
He most recently helmed the Oscar-winner Ford V Ferrari, and previously, the acclaimed comic-book movie Logan, which was also nominated for an Academy Award.
Despite Harrison Ford turning 79 next July, Kennedy confirmed he will indeed be playing Indiana Jones once again. I have to wonder how much that will affect the story and how much it will lack action sequences because of Ford’s age, but maybe they will factor all of this into the plot of the movie. I am very curious to see how they handle all of this.
Indiana Jones 5 will hit theaters on July 29, 2022 (hopefully).
Another interesting tidbit from the presentation was confirmation of a 2022 release date for the Willow series for Disney Plus, which will start production soon and have its pilot directed by Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians). Warwick Davis is back in the title role, with original director Ron Howard serving as producer. Jon Kasdan (Solo: A Star Wars Story) is writing.
Lucasfilm is in pre-production on the next installment of Indiana Jones. At the helm is James @Mang0ld, director of Ford v Ferrari, and Indy himself, Harrison Ford, will be back to continue his iconic character’s journey. Adventure arrives July 2022.

Miguel Fernández is a Spanish student that has movies as his second passion in life. His favorite movie of all time is The Lord of the Rings, but he is also a huge Star Wars fan. However, fantasy movies are not his only cup of tea, as authors like Scorsese, Fincher, Kubrick or Hitchcock have been an obsession for him since he started to understand the language of filmmaking. He is that guy who will watch a black and white movie, just because it is in black and white.
