‘Killing Eve’ Star Jodie Comer Eyed For Mad Max: Furiosa Prequel

Some fans may be disappointed Charlize Theron will not be back to play Furiosa in the upcoming spinoff of the Mad Max: Fury Road character, but like water in the desert, there is some hope. Killing Eve star and Emmy Award-winning actress Jodie Comer may step in.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, writer and director George Miller has been eyeing Comer for the role. According to Miller, the intent was for Theron return using the CGI de-aging techniques that have become popular and frequent in several recent MCU films. Despite the success of the technique in those films, Miller evidently doesn’t think it’s going to pay dividends for his film.

“For the longest time, I thought we could just use CG de-aging on Charlize, but I don’t think we’re nearly there yet.”

Miller is looking for a twenty-something actress for the part, and Comer would certainly fit the bill. She is also very hot at the moment, with her award-winning run on Killing Eve, currently in the middle of its third season and showcasing her extraordinary depth and range on a weekly basis.

She also recently had a bit part in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and her star is going to rise in the coming year with high-profile roles in the Ridley Scott historical drama The Last Duel and Ryan Reynolds video game adventure Free Guy.

It had previously been reported that Miller eyed Anna Taylor-Joy for the role, and that may still be the case. Comer could be up to play a different role in the film, which is said to focus on Furiosa’s youth in the fabled Green Place. Pre-production had been slated to start this spring or summer, but with the Coronavirus global pandemic impacting the film industry, it is uncertain when production could begin.
