Lionsgate Announces New Release Dates for ‘John Wick 4’ and ‘The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard’

According to Variety, the upcoming Lionsgate films The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and John Wick: Chapter 4 have been moved to 2021 and 2022 respectively. John Wick: Chapter 4, the fourth entry in the franchise starring Keanu Reeves, will now be released a full year after it’s original release date on May 27, 2022 during the Memorial Day weekend. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard starring Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, Frank Grillo, Richard E. Grant, Tom Hopper, Antonio Banderas, and Morgan Freeman has also been pushed a year, back from August 28th of this year to August 28th of 2021.

 

On Friday it was also announced that Spiral, the Saw reboot starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, has been moved to May 21, 2022 from its original opening date of May 21, 2020. Antebellum starring Janelle Monae, which was originally going to be released in April of this year, is now due to come out on August 21, 2020 making it the earliest release on Lionsgate’s scheduled slate since the Coronavirus pandemic began.

 

Also scheduled for release later this year is the thriller by Deon Taylor, Fatale, on October 30th, as well as the Neil Burger sci-fi film Voyagers on November 30th with Tye Sheridan, Colin Farrell, Lily Rose-Depp, and Fion Whitehead. The Michael Keaton and Maggie Q assassin film The Asset will now open on April 23, 2021. Whilst Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar starring Kristen Wiig is due July 16, 2021, and American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story will be out on December 10, 2021.

 

The sci-fi film Chaos Walking is still on track to be released January 21, 2021 after being delayed from 2019 due to reshoots.  Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, Mads Mikkelsen, Demian Bichir, Kurt Sutter, Nick Jonas, Cynthia Ervo and David Oyelowo star. It is based on the 2008 novel The Knife Of Never Letting Go and is the first entry in the Patrick Ness Chaos Walking Trilogy.

 

The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent starring Nicolas Cage is still due out on March 19, 2021, and The Devil’s Light is right on course for its release date of January 8, 2021.
