Bad Robot’s Next Project is ‘The Pinkerton’

After signing a massive five-year deal with Warner Bros. Pictures, J.J. Abrams’ production company Bad Robot will develop an original supernatural western film from Daniel Casey.

This first project from Bad Robot’s new deal with Warner Bros. Pictures is being reported by Variety to be a supernatural western thriller called The Pinkerton. The new movie is an original film written by Daniel Casey, who has writing credit on 10 Cloverfield Lane, Kin and the new film from the Fast and the Furious series F9. J.J.

We don’t know the exact extent of Abrams’ involvement, but he is certainly comfortable with bringing supernatural films to life. The project is being kept under wraps with little plot information to report.

The Pinkerton has some historical significance as it was a National Detective Agency formed in 1850 by Allan Pinkerton. Allan was born in Scotland and his detective agency is known for its claim to have foiled a plot in the assassination attempt of Abraham Lincoln in Baltimore, Maryland in 1861.

How Bad Robot turn this historically significant detective agency into a supernatural thriller is yet to be seen. However with their track record, we should expect something out of this world.

Although unlikely, it is possible that this new film could somehow be tied to the Cloverfield series, which has seen three films released over a twelve year period that are loosely connected, to say the least. Regardless, I’m sure theorists will somehow try to connect the films in one way or another, especially if you hear a Godzilla-like roar at some point in the film.

Everything released from J.J Abrams seems to come with lots of press, whether it be good or bad.  J.J. Abrams most recently directed Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which to date has made $1,072,272,947 worldwide. We’re excited to learn more about the film and will keep you updated as it progresses.
