‘The Batman’ Screen Test Shows Glimpse Of Robert Pattinson In Batsuit

Batman

Ever since he was cast, fans have wondered what Robert Pattinson is going to look like in the Batsuit. Wonder no more, as Matt Reeves has revealed a portion of the costume to the internet, including Pattinson’s profile.

The first official look at The Batman isn’t exactly the clearest, due to this being an atmospheric screen test. Nonetheless, we do get a look at Robert Pattinson as Batman, with the look at the costume being confined to the chest-up. We don’t see the bat-ears, but we do see that the cowl itself has a greater amount of emhpasis than other iterations of the costume have had before in live-action. Take a look below:

The movie does not appear to exist within the context of DC’s main movie universe, but as its own continuity that could eventually slide into the main universe eventually. Even still, Robert Pattinson could hypothetically pass for a younger version of Ben Affleck’s take on the character, though that’s not likely where they are headed. As it stands, there are some serious Netflix-Daredevil vibes from this preview, and a lot of us are hoping that the movie will be a mix of that and a live-action version of Batman: The Animated Series. In any case, The Batman will be the superhero movie to watch out for when it hits next year.

The story of The Batman is still a closely guarded secret, but Reeves’ has assembled an impressive cast to bring to life some of Gotham’s most infamous residents. The film will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeffery Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Colin Firth as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. Peter Saarsgard and Jayme Lawson will play characters unique to the movie.

The Batman is due for release June 25, 2021.
