New ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Trailer Reveals Goose’s Son

Top Gun
If you feel the need – the need for speed – then the latest Top Gun: Maverick trailer may just be what you’re looking for. The new trailer places more emphasis on the pilots in this movie that aren’t played by Tom Cruise, as he will instruct these characters in a sequel set over thirty years after the original.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy, Oblivion), Top Gun: Maverick brings Pete “Maverick” Mitchell back into the fold after years of being an ace pilot for the Navy. He finds himself back in the TOPGUN program – this time as an instructor instead of a student. The new Top Gun movie naturally has him take command over a number of students, including one Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, the son of the late Nick “Goose” Bradshaw.

A sequel to Top Gun has been in the pipeline for quite some time, but development on the film was delayed due to the tragic end of would-be director Tony Scott. However, it seems as though everyone managed to pull through with a promising-looking sequel that should honor the roots of this ode to dogfighting while carrying the story forward. Between the spectacular aerial footage and the ageless Tom Cruise, this sequel is sure to soar when it hits theaters next Summer.

Top Gun: Maverick is directed by Joseph Kosinski, written by Peter Craig, Justin Marks, Christopher McQuarrie, and Eric Warren Singer, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Tom Cruise, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger. Cruise returns as “Maverick”, with Val Kilmer’s Thomas “Iceman” Kazansky being the only other known cast member returning from the original Top Gun. Joining the cast are Miles Teller as Bradley Bradshaw, Manny Jacinto as “Fritz”, Danny Ramirez as “Fanboy”, Jay Ellis as “Payback”, and Monica Barbaro as “Phoenix”. The film also features the talents of Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Ed Harris, Charles Parnell, Bashir Salahuddin, Lewis Pullman, Jake Picking, Raymond Lee, and Jean Louisa Kelly.

Top Gun: Maverick is set to release on June 26, 2020.
