Harley is Here! First Trailer Arrives for ‘Birds of Prey’

Birds of Prey
The first trailer for DC’s Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is finally here, and with it our first proper looks at Black Canary, Huntress, Black Mask, and, of course, lots, and lots of Harley!

Opening with a newly emancipated Harley Quinn, “Joker and I broke up” she says as we see Harley throwing a knife at a drawing of her former boyfriend, the trailer finds Margot Robbie’s Harley looking for a fresh start without the clown prince of crime. And, as she goes on to note, she’s not the only one in Gotham looking for emancipation. Helena Bertinelli (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Dinah Lance (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) are all seeking a new beginning, and fate is about to bring them together.

Whilst the Joker may be behind her, the trailer hints that Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask may be equally infatuated with the former Arkham doctor. And as Mask hunts Quinn, it puts the others in his sights. But Harley has clearly learnt something about team work from her time in the Suicide Squad, prompting the former villain to propose an unexpected alliance with the women who will become the Birds of Prey.

Based on the trailer, the movie will certainly have a unique tone compared with the DC Films universe so far. Darker and more violent than recent offerings, but very much with a sense of fun. It looks like it will be a wild ride when it opens in theaters next year.

In the build up to the trailer’s release, Warner Bros. also released a series of posters featuring Robbie’s Harley;
