‘A Quiet Place 2’ Quietly Begins Production

Production has officially begun on A Quiet Place 2, just over a year after the original arrived in theaters.

Coming Soon has managed to confirm that the follow-up to last year’s breakout horror hit A Quiet Place has begun production. Not an awful lot is known about the sequel to last year’s massive box office success, and it’s tough to guess where the story will go after the events of the first film. It was very much written as a one-and-done story, so a lot of fans were surprised when a sequel was announced.

What we little we do know of the plot is that we’ll start to get answers on some of the mysteries surrounding the alien monsters, according to new cast member Brian Tyree Henry. In an interview with The Observer, Henry explained that a big part of the new film’s story is that it will explore the ravaged, silent world:

“I’m still trying to find that out, but I really think that what we’ll do is we’ll see more of that family continuing to survive and finding out that they’re not the only ones, and I think that we’re also going to get a few answers to the origin of where and how this whole thing happened. I think that people want to know that. But I think you’re just going to see another side of it… More of humanity that survived this thing in this next story.”

As far as we know, John Krasinski will not be acting in the sequel, but he will write and direct the film as he did with the original. Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmons will reprise their roles from the original, with Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Batman Begins) and Henry (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-VerseChild’s Play) joining the cast.

A Quiet Place 2 will be tip-toeing its way into cinemas on March 20, 2020.
