As ‘Gotham’ Ends, Batman Begins in Series Finale Trailer

Gotham
No Man’s Land is over. It’s time for the Dark Knight to rise. After five years, Gotham will come to an end on Thursday, and the new trailer for the series finale offers the clearest look yet at David Mazouz’s Batman.

As revealed at the Television Critics Association earlier this year, Gotham‘s series finale will jump forwards ten years to show exactly what fans want: Batman. And not just the Caped Crusader; for five years, Gotham has built up the hero’s supporting cast and infamous rogues gallery. In the finale we will get to see those characters fully realized in their most iconic forms. “It almost feels, in a weird way, like another pilot,” showrunner John Stephens told reporters at the TCA. Watching the trailer you certainly get the feeling of both the culmination of the journey we’ve been on for the last five years and a new beginning.

In addition to featuring our best look yet at Mazouz’s Batman, the trailer also teases at the final forms of Cameron Monaghan’s Jeremiah Valeska and Lili Simmons as Catwoman, replacing series star Camren Bicondova, at her own request, as the older version of Selina Kyle.

But if shadowy glimpses aren’t enough. Here’s Monaghan in all his purple suited Joker glory;

The finale’s synopsis is as follows:

The series flash-forwards 10 years into the future, as Bruce is set to return to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower. A series of crimes leads Gordon to believe Penguin and The Riddler are up to their old tricks. However, when Bullock is framed for a murder, Gordon begins to piece together an even more sinister plot targeting the city, and a new figure emerges from the shadows to be the hero Gotham desperately needs in the all-new “The Beginning…” series finale episode of Gotham.

The final episode of Gotham airs Thursday, April 25 on FOX.
