‘The Suicide Squad’ Reportedly Casting Alien Femme Fatale
The Suicide Squad may be taking the franchise in an unexpected direction, but one that James Gunn is already familiar with due to his experience on the Guardians of the Galaxy films. New rumors indicate that an alien character will be a part of the movie’s cast.
In a new report from Revenge of the Fans, call sheets for The Suicide Squad indicate that the studio are looking for an actress aged 20-30 to play what the author of the piece describes as “a monstrous femme fatale, a creature; a surly, muscular alien woman – the kind of character that’ll require the heavy use of prosthetics”. The approach Gunn seems to be taking with The Suicide Squad is one that emphasizes more of a sense of the fantastical as opposed to one that merely focuses on “grounded” characters in an otherwise science-fantasy-based setting. However, from the sound of things, it seems like the movie will be grounded by putting Deadshot as the lead character of the film.
Right now, there’s very little official word on what the new film will be about, and who will be on the new Suicide Squad team, aside from Idris Elba as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and (reportedly) Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, their mission control. Some members that have been rumored to join the team include a classic Suicide Squad teammate in the form of King Shark, along with several obscure villains and anti-heroes like Ratcatcher, the Peacemaker, and Polka-Dot Man. The story itself is believed to involve Task Force X being sent to the Middle Eastern nation of Quarac to neutralize a state-sponsored supervillain terrorist group known as Onslaught. They’ve taken up residence in a fortress that they call Jotunheim, and Task Force X have been hired to infiltrate and neutralize the threat. There’s also a very real chance that the movie ends up being R-rated, which was never really on the cards for the 2016 film.
The Suicide Squad is set to release on August 6, 2021.
