‘Avengers: Endgame’ Will Be Stan Lee’s Final MCU Cameo

Avengers: Endgame
While promoting Avengers: Endgame on a press tour, one of the film’s directors confirmed that the movie would feature the last Marvel Cinematic Universe cameo for the late Stanley Martin Lieber, AKA Stan Lee.

During a trip to India, Joe Russo confirmed that Lee filmed his cameo for the final film in the so-called “Infinity Saga” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that it was most likely his last one:

“I believe that his final cameo is in Endgame. I don’t remember if he was well enough to do the cameo in [Spider-Man: Far From Home] or not.”

So unless he filmed something for Spider-Man: Far From Home in secret, this next movie will be his last cameo. A video the presentation where he made the comment can be viewed below:

Lee recently received a tribute in the opening credits for Captain Marvel, in which a special iteration of the standard Marvel logo was altered to feature scenes of Lee’s previous 20 Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances. Lee also had one of his signature cameos in the film, in which Captain Marvel herself crossed paths with him on a train while he was memorizing his lines for his role in Mall Rats. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously confirmed that Lee had one more cameo in him, and it appears that it was for Avengers: Endgame. Lee’s cameos have been a staple of Marvel films for nearly two decades, and while it’s sad to know that we won’t be seeing him pop up in future movies, it almost feels poetic that the end of one part of a long-form story ended up being the place where he filmed his final cameo.

The film’s official synopsis is as follows:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.
