Rumored ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Runtime Should Make it Marvel’s Longest Film

Avengers Endgame
Not that long ago, Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that they were satisfied to the reactions of a cut of the film that was nearly three hours long. Now, it sounds like the version that will be hitting theaters will be around that length, making it the longest Marvel Cinematic Universe film and the longest Marvel film period.

Movie insider ViewerAnon has recently shared some information about the running time of the film. While we don’t usually cover stories about how long or short a movie is, there’s a lot of speculation around this film, and given its status as the conclusion to eleven years of movies, it seems like this is pretty significant. Anyway, ViewerAnon has seen some listings suggesting that the movie should be between 2 hours and 45 minutes and 3 whole hours:

The Russo brothers, along with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, have all indicated that this movie was going to be longer than Avengers: Infinity War. And it looks like they’re living up to that promise.

It should be noted that there are some listings out there suggesting that Avengers: Endgame is exactly three hours long, but I wouldn’t trust those. Those are almost certainly placeholders, especially since they arrived at a point before the picture actually locked earlier this month. And while we’re on the subject of the picture being locked,  I should note that you should expect absolutely no last-minute reshoots meant to tease a movie with the characters that were previously licensed to Fox until Disney’s acquisition, which was completed two days ago. Those aren’t expected to happen until 2021 at the very earliest, and Marvel already have a bunch of other movies that will arrive even if they wanted to fast-track a specific project.

The film’s official synopsis is as follows:

The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.
