Godzilla Arrives in New ‘King of the Monsters’ TV Spot

Godzilla: King of the Monsters
Pandora’s box has been opened. Monsters walk the Earth. There’s no going back as Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse continues next month with the release of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Whilst the world’s most famous monster was shown sparingly in the 2014 reboot, this year the king will be unleashed and he gives an intimidating display in the new TV spot for Michael Dougherty’s monster epic.

“One King to rule them all.” That’s what the new TV spot for King of the Monsters proclaims, and from the looks of it, the film is going to deliver on that promise. The short trailer begins with a piano playing softly as blue light emanates from Godzilla, before the music changes and the true nature of the beast’s intimidation display is revealed. We’re then treated to glimpses of mythical monsters fighting, some alongside humanity, others against as the world burns. “Long live the king,” says Vera Farmiga’s Doctor Emma Russll as Godzilla, flanked by the Air Force, clashes with the three headed beast King Ghidorah at the climax of the short teaser. We’re certainly in for a titanic showdown when the monsters collide in just a few months.

The film’s synopsis is as follows:

Following the global success of Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species – thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is directed by Michael Dougherty and roars into theaters on May 31, 2019.
