‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Finally Gets a Trailer

Game of Thrones
The trailer for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones teases a massive confrontation between the living and the dead. Winter is here, and all men must die.

The trailer reveals footage from what appear to be only the first three episodes of the six-episode season to avoid spoiling much, and even then, what we see is quite illuminating. The Battle of Winterfell is most likely the third episode, according to rumors, and while it’s only the approximate halfway point, the episode should still prove to be incredibly eventful despite happening relatively early on. It seems likely that the series finale could culminate in the Battle of King’s Landing, which would be a very good reason as to why the showrunners aren’t willing to reveal when the big battle in the North takes place.

As an unlikely alliance of Westerosi and Essosi forms to defend the Seven Kingdoms (and the rest of the world) from an army of undead horrors that are hellbent on starting a winter that never ends, the mad queen Cersei Lannister plots to destroy her enemies in one fell swoop instead of forming an alliance that can destroy the White Walkers for good. Secrets are revealed and sides are taken as HBO’s critically-acclaimed series comes to a memorable conclusion. The trailer for the eighth season can be seen below:

The show’s notorious body count is likely to skyrocket in these final episodes, and the series is seemingly headed toward a bittersweet conclusion rather than an outright happy one. But in any case, it’s been an amazing journey to witness these eight seasons across nine years, and we can only hope that this franchise continues to see new life with the many spin-offs that are in development.
