New ‘Captain Marvel’ TV Spot Focuses on the Skrulls
Another day, another new TV spot for Captain Marvel. This one focuses on the invading alien race known as the Skrulls, who are notable for their ability to shapeshift and mimic the appearances and voices of other races, and why it’s important for Captain Marvel to stop them on Earth.
The new ad plays up the idea that due to their set of skills, Skrulls could be effectively anybody, which will probably lead to trust issues in any future story arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which they rear their green heads, pointy ears, and wrinkly chins toward. The clip can be seen below:
Naturally, one can’t help but to wonder if they’re setting up a Secret Invasion adaptation already, as that was a comic storyline in which many established characters had been secretly replaced by Skrulls while nobody noticed, setting the stage for an alien invasion unlike any that had been seen before. Even with Marvel Studios being the hit-factory that it is, it seems like it’s going to be a while before they attempt anything so ambitious, and I don’t think that they’re going to do any major “X was a Skrull since Movie Y!” twist until after Avengers: Endgame releases.
Captain Marvel will be released on March 8, 2019.
