‘Dune’: Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin Join Cast

Dune
Denis Villeneuve’s highly anticipated adaptation of Dune has added three more stars to it’s already impressive cast as Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin join the extremely talented ensemble cast.

According to Deadline, Momoa will play Duncan Idaho, a fierce warrior serving Oscar Isaac’s Duke Leto. Variety are reporting that Javier Bardem will portray Stilgar, a tribal leader who aids Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, with Josh Brolin playing Gurney Halleck, Atreides’ mentor and the warmaster for his family.

Set in the distant future far from Earth, Dune is the story of Paul Atreides, son of the ruling family of the desert planet Arrakis. When he and his family are betrayed, Atreides must lead a rebellion to reclaim his family’s rule.

Dune is based on the acclaimed novel by Frank Herbert, directed by Denis Villeneuve, with the script written by Villeneuve, Eric Roth, and Jon Spaihts. The star-studded cast includes Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Jason Momoa. Villeneuve will also produce the movie with Mary Parent and Cale Boyter. Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Thomas Tull, and Kim Herbert will serve as executive producers, with Kevin J. Anderson as a creative consultant.

The film from Legendary Pictures currently has no release date set, but is expected to begin filming later this year.
