Vin Diesel Announces Writers for ‘Fast & Furious’ Female Led Feature

Fast & Furious
With over $5 billion dollars at the box office, Fast & Furious is one of Universal’s most successful film franchises. Built on fast action with family at it’s heart, the franchise has grown beyond all expectations since it began almost twenty years ago. So it’s no surprise that Universal are looking to expand the franchise with a series of spinoff movies. Taking to Instagram, series star and producer Vin Diesel officially welcomed Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Bear, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet to the Fast Family as writers for the female led spinoff movie.

As Diesel notes, a female led Fast movie has been in development since 2017 so it’s great to see the project picking up steam following what was obviously a very successful pitch from the writing team.

According to ScreenRant, Perlman, Beer, and Robertson-Dworet have work together previously as part of the Hasbro writers room, when Hasbro and Paramount attempted to create a shared universe for Hasbro’s none-Transformers franchises. Perlman has worked on both Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel as part of the Marvel Studios writers program. Robertson-Dworet also worked on Captain Marvel, doing rewrites before production started, as well as scripting 2018’s Tomb Raider. Beer’s only released movie is Netflix’s Sierra Burgess Is A Loser, but she is currently working on both Sam Raimi’s The Kingkiller Chronicle and Paramount’s upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.

The first spinoff movie, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, is due to hit cinemas on July 26th, with Fast & Furious 9 and 10 due to land April 10th 2020 and April 2nd 2021 respectively.
