RUMOR: What’s Next for the ‘Avengers’ Franchise after ‘Endgame’

Avengers
Avengers: Endgame may be the end of the road for much of the original six teammates, but that doesn’t mean that Marvel’s highest-grossing film franchise will come to a sudden stop. Rumors indicate that there are plans for the franchise going forward, although they may not come in a form that you’re expecting…

According to MCU Cosmic, a new rumor is spreading that suggests that the Avengers franchise will split off into other, smaller franchises. Rumor has it that Young AvengersNew Avengers, and Dark Avengers are all things that could happen years from now. As for the standard Avengers title, it seems like it won’t be used again for a little while, with the other Avengers spin-offs taking the place of the main series in the release schedule for the time being. The three concepts all revolve around teams of super-powered characters and other extraordinary individuals, as one would expect.

Firstly, Young Avengers would concern itself with a team of teenage characters and young adults; evidence is mounting that some of the Disney+ shows are going to be used to set the stage of the show. New Avengers may or may not be another codename for this project, but that pitch will likely pair up some of the Young Avengers cast with some of their older counterparts, ranging from new additions to the team like Black Panther and Doctor Strange to returning members like the Vision and Scarlet Witch. Lastly, Dark Avengers is about a team of villains masquerading as heroes; the IP is something that’s been discussed behind closed doors at Marvel, and a spec script has allegedly been developed.

It’s worth noting that whatever these plans are, they were in the pipeline well before the Disney-Fox deal was even on the cards. With that in mind, there’s even more potential to these future projects as it means that previously Fox-licensed characters can be integrated into these plans. The potential for the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward is truly limitless, and we can’t wait to see what new directions the franchise will take.

Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26, 2019.
