‘Game of Thrones’ Gets Mid-April Return Date and New Teaser

Game Of Thrones
The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will air starting April 14. The reveal of this information comes with a new video showcasing Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, and Arya Stark all walking through the catacombs in Winterfell to meet up, only to be met by a chilling presence…

Yesterday evening, HBO announced the official date alongside the season premiere of True Detective. The promotional video has an ominous hint of what’s to come now that Winter is here:

The show’s final season will run for six more episodes, with all indications suggesting that they will be longer than the average hour-long episodes that the series is known for as a way of fully bringing closure to the epic story. Little is known about where the series will take its final episodes, but there’s plenty of ground to cover in that time. One thing is certain: all men must die.

Even after Game of Thrones is finished, there will still be plenty of room for HBO to explore the World of Ice and Fire, as multiple spin-off shows that serve as distant prequels are in development. The first is known as The Long Night, which will cover the first White Walker invasion of Westeros thousands of years before the War of Five Kings. As many as four additional spin-offs are in various stages of planning.

Game of Thrones Season 8 will air in April 2019.
