‘The Lego Movie 2’ Gets a Second Trailer

The Lego Movie 2
A second theatrical trailer has dropped for The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, as Emmet Brickowski goes to Lucy’s rescue.

It’s been four years since we last saw Emmet on our screens, as in that time Lego have since released spin-offs for the incredibly popular LEGO Batman and the less-enjoyed Ninjago movie. But finally, the sequel to the original is on the horizon and after the first trailer was released back in June, we have a new one that reveals the film’s premise.

The trailer begins with the main cast living their lives in some kind of Mad Max-esque desert apocalypse land, until Lucy gets kidnapped by an alien entity. Naturally, Emmet – voiced by Chris Pratt – heads off into space to go and rescue her, where he meets Rex Dangervest – a galaxy defending archeologist/cowboy/raptor trainer who is both ruggedly handsome and confident… And he’s also voiced by Chris Pratt. (That’s the joke.) You can check out the trailer below:

It seems Emmet’s arc in this film will be about learning what it is to be a man. Lucy tells him before getting kidnapped that he needs to become ‘tough and battle-ready’, and meeting what appears to be a symbol of his alter-ego will likely force him to do some soul searching during the film.

Fans will also be happy to know that Batman and the other DC superheroes also make a return in the trailer, with Will Arnett’s Caped Crusader set to play a significant role in the sequel once again.

The directors of the original film, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, will not be returning to direct the sequel however. That job falls to Mike Mitchell, whose previous credits include Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigalo, Sky High, and Trolls. The Lego Movie 2 will drop in theaters on February 8, 2019.
